Angola forward Igor Vetokele scored the opener as Charlton Athletic managed a home draw with Birmingham City.

Charlton will have been unhappy at having failed to beat Birmingham in South London this afternoon. The visitors sit 20th in the Championship table, while Bob Peeters’s side have performed well above expectations and are in the play-off places.

Having taken the lead through Vetokele, the Addicks would have surely been confident that they would see-out the contest.

However, Birmingham gradually found their way back into the match and equalised through David Davis on 53 minutes.

Vetokele has been outstanding form for Charlton so far this season, hitting the ground running since arriving from FC Kobenhavn in the summer. He has now bagged six in eleven matches and has been influential in Charlton’s excellent start to the season.

Gabonese playmaker Frederic Bulot also deserves mention for adapting so well to live in English football following his summer move. The Central African operated behind Vetokele and provided the assist for the eleventh-minute goal.

Andre Bikey also played the full 90 minutes for the home side.
