Nigerian international Ejike Uzoenyi has ended speculation about his future by signing a contract extension with NPL side Enugu Rangers.

Ozor Paul Chibuzor, Rangers’ General Manager, speaking to NAN (the News Agency of Nigeria) acknowledged Uzoenyi’s decision to remain at the club: “We cannot disclose the details of the contract but he has signed for Enugu Rangers for the new League season in line with the rules and regulations of the League Management Company (LMC),”

Chibuzor continued to explain some of the reasoning behind Uzoenyi’s decision: “He [Uzoenyi] is thanking the club for giving him all the support that helped him to succeed at the 2014 Chan in South Africa. The other players are also happy with him because of the way he relates with them.”

Uzoenyi has seen his fortunes take a turn for the better over the last few months. Having been exiled from Stephen Keshi’s Nigeria squad for much of 2013, he starred at the recent CHAN tournament in South Africa and has earned an unlikely international recall.

The likes of Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates had both been linked with his signature, but Rangers fans can be delighted that one of their star names has decided to stay.
