The events going on in Al-Merreikh’s camp indicate that the Sudanese side are more than ready to collect as much silverware as possible next year.

Only a few days ago, the Omdurman-based team appointed former Ethiopia and Togo boss Diego Garzitto as their new coach with the journeyman taking over reigns from Otto Pfister.

That was followed up with a recent announcement that the 19-time Sudanese champions have accepted offers to play two friendly matches against German outfit Schalke 04 and French champions Paris Saint-Germain early next year.

SurperSport have reported that Merreikh’s board have revealed that an agent offered them the chance to play the friendly matches in Doha next January and they welcomed this proposition.

Reports indicate Merreikh will start the first stage of the pre-season camping in the Egyptian capital Cairo before moving to Qatar to finish it.

Under caretaker coach Mohsen Said, Merreikh won the 2014 Sudanese Cup and regional Cecafa Club Cup in Rwanda four months ago. The club’s objectives and ambitions for the coming season appear to be higher still.
