Sarr snubs Guinea
Midfielder Bouna Sarr has rejected a call-up to Guinea’s AFCON 2015 squad.
The 22-year-old was handed a maiden call-up, but has decided to forgo the opportunity in favour of his club career with Ligue 1 side Metz.
Guinea coach Dussuyer will announce a replacement in time for the Syli National’s training camp in Casablanca which commences on January 7.
“Bouna Sarr was selected by Michel Dussuyer to join the Guinea’s national team. That was a surprise. But the young French-Guinean midfielder, who is at a crossroads in his career, eventually preferred, with a heavy heart, to turn down the call-up to the Syli National to focus on his journey with FC Metz,” the club stated on their official website.
Guinea are drawn alongside Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Mali in Group D of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
