Onazi linked with Everton
Over the last month, there has been extensive speculation surrounding the future of Ogenyi Onazi. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Everton have made a formal approach for the defensive midfielder.
The conditions of the offer are yet to be confirmed, but Lazio president Claudio Lotito has, in the past, indicated that Onazi would not be sold for anything less than €9 million.
The Nigerian has been a revelation over the last 12 months. He broke into Stephen Keshi’s Nigeria squad during the Cup of Nations and became an irreplaceable component of the first eleven. He was sorely missed during the Cup of Nations but is set to be a big part of the Super Eagles team that heads to the World Cup in Brazil this summer.
While Everton appear keen to recruit the player, Onazi himself has indicated that his preference would be for Merseyside’s other major club, Liverpool.
