Odemwingie may be out for the season
Stoke have been hit with the news that Peter Odemwingie could be out for the rest of the season.
The forward was taken off with injury during the Potters’ surprise win over reigning Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday.
In spite of manager Mark Hughes’ comment that it was nothing sinister, the Stoke Sentinel now report the Nigeria international may have damaged his cruciate knee ligaments.
The search is on for a squad replacement, with the likes of Oussama Assaidi and Aaron Lennon mooted. The Moroccan especially is at the top of the club’s wishlist. A deal was earlier agreed with Liverpool for his services, but the move stalled over personal terms.
Odemwingie was instrumental in Stoke’s rise last term after joining in January, weighing in with six goals in the second half of the season.
