Odemwingie credits ‘incredible’ Stoke fans
Injury-hit Peter Odemwingie has credited the “incredible” Stoke City fans, who helped him through an eight-month injury lay off.
The 33-year-old suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury back in August, which denied him the chance to be a part of another successful season for the Potters.
However, the Nigeria international has recognised the fans’ support for him during a tough period for the forward.
“On quite a few Monday mornings I would come in to training and one of the players would tell me that the fans had been singing my name at away games.” Odemwingie told The Mirror.
“The reception I got from the fans when I came back was incredible and they’ve done exactly the same for Bojan, who has a similar injury.
“They are incredible fans. They have helped me so much through such a difficult time in my career. They keep you going.”
Odemwingie hopes manager Mark Hughes will offer him a new contract at the Britannia Stadium, where he feels settled, following a career that has spanned across six countries.
