Mahrez not surprised by goalscoring form
Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez is not surprised by his goalscoring form which has made him joint-top Premier League goalscorer.
The Foxes are the only remaining unbeaten Premier League side thanks to the Algeria internationals five goals in six games.
Mahrez told Sky Sports: “Last season I was like that as well but did not have the success, now this year I have scored,
“The manager has given me a lot of responsibility and has given me a lot of confidence.
“I’m not surprised about what I can do. I knew I could do things like this.”
However, the 24-year-old knows that by keeping up his impressive form, he will become a target for opposition defences over the course of the season.
“It is more difficult for me now that they know me – they will close a lot.
“So I have to be careful now, they will start to kick me, the manager said to me as well.”
Arsenal travel to Leicester on Saturday, looking to end the Foxes’ fantastic form, which sees them sit fourth in the table, two points above the Gunners.
