Kwambe on MLS Trial

Nigeria right-back Solomon Kwambe has been offered a trial with MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps.

The international defender, who has appeared three times for the national side and was also a part of Stephen Keshi’s recent CHAN squad, has received a trial with the Canadian club ahead of a possible move.

According to KickOffNigeria, the defender left the Championship of African Nations and headed straight to the team’s training camp in Arizona.

Despite a red card received during one sub-standard showing at the CHAN tournament, Kwambe has been a key figure in Stephen Keshi’s domestic-based squad. He is a swashbuckling full-back who loves to support the midfield and dash forward.

The presence of Efe Ambrose within the Nigeria set-up has meant that caps have been hard to come by, but Kwambe travelled with the Super Eagles to the Confederations Cup last summer and also starred in the recent friendly draw with Italy.

He is currently contracted to Sunshine Stars in the Nigeria Premier League.
