Veteran Cameroon goalkeeper Carlos Kameni believes Manchester City must protect their wings if they have any chance of beating Barcelona this evening.

Kameni kept the Barcelona front-line as bay on Saturday evening as his Malaga side snatched a surprise win at the Camp Nou.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is a former coach of Malaga and Kameni said after the game that sending the Barcelona attack inside could help Pellegrini’s side.

“We knew that Barcelona are very good at getting in behind teams and reaching the byline so we were very aware of trying to send them inside at every opportunity so that they couldn’t hurt us down the wings.”

The former Espanyol keeper Kameni has kept a clean sheet in 180 minutes of football against arguably one of the best forward line in world football.

The Manchester City team which may feature Ivorians Yaya Toure and Wilfried Bony take on Barcelona in the first-leg last 16 of the UEFA Champions League this evening.
