Irvine praises Mulumbu show
West Brom boss Alan Irvine has praised the contribution of midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu in the goalless draw against Southampton on Saturday.
The DR Congo hardman was in excellent form on the day, dominating the centre of the park for the Baggies.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Irvine said, “It was difficult to single anybody out – but he (Mulumbu) was very, very good; there’s no question about that.
“He broke things up when they had possession, he shielded the back-four very well and he passed it very well when he got possession.
“He was terrific but I’d be wrong not to mention the rest of the boys because they did the jobs they had to do – and did them really well.”
The 27-year-old has been a consistent feature of West Brom’s midfield since moving to the Hawthorns in 2009.
