Nigeria international Brown Ideye struck to give West Bromwich Albion a 1-0 victory over Stoke City in the Premier League at the Hawthorns on Saturday.

Ideye formerly of Dynamo Kyiv headed in early on 19 minutes for his fifth goal in eight games as West Brom registered their fourth successive home win in all competitions. In-form Ideye’s decisive goal came after he nipped in ahead of Phil Bardsley to head in Gardner’s low cross.

The score line further meant the Midland outfit have now kept eight clean sheets in the 13 matches since boss Tony Pulis took charge.

The victory kept the Baggies’ hopes of topflight football next season alive as they now lie in 13th place having collected 33 points from 29 matches.

Ideye had started the match with Burundian-born Saido Berahino while Stoke fielded Nigerian Victor Moses and French international of Congolese descent Steven N’Zonzi.
