Gyan: ‘We can take on anyone’
Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has insisted the Black Stars fear no one after reaching the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana confirmed their passage to the quarter-finals after coming from behind to beat South Africa 2-1 and will now face the winners of Group D on Sunday.
Speaking after the match, Gyan said: “With this team we can take on anyone in this competition,”
He continued: “I have played at five cups of nations, but this group was the hardest. We were very strong mentally, even after conceding the first goal. We kept believing and fought to the end knowing that we could win.”
Ghana came from a goal down to equalise through defender John Boye before Andre Ayew secured victory for Avram Grants men.
The Black Stars topped Group C ahead of Algeria on the head-to-head rule.
