Guinea will face Ghana in the quarter-finals of the 2015 African Cup of Nations after lots were drawn to determine whether they or Mali would progress.

The drawing of lots was needed after their final group match ended 1-1, with Guinea and Mali still tied on goals and points. In accordance of article 74 of the CAF regulations, a lots draw was organised on Thursday afternoon at the Hilton hotel in Malabo.

The ballot had the two countries put in balls with numbers 2 and 3 to be picked out randomly by the football federation presidents of both Mali and Guinea.

Guinea advance behind Group D winners Cote d’Ivoire and will now face Ghana on Sunday in Malabo.
