Egypt League to return in a fortnight
The Egyptian prime minister Ibrahim Mahlab has announced that the Egyptian Premier League will return in two weeks time after it was suspended.
A meeting has been scheduled with the Egypt Football Association which will see the league resume in two weeks’ with no fans present. The Egypt prime minister in a televised statement said revealed the plans for the resumption according to KingFut.
“The decision to stop the league was to review and assess the situation,” he said. “There was a plan to disturb the Egyptian state entity,”
Malab went on to explain the reason behind the decision.
“The league will return because it impacts a lot of Egyptians,” he added.
The Egypt top-flight was suspended after clashes between fans of Zamalek and ENPPI which left a reported 25 fans dead and many injured in Cairo. Egypt has a history of fan violence which resulted in the suspension of the league in 2012.
