DONE DEAL: AS Roma sign Doumbia
AS Roma have signed Ivorian striker Seydou Doumbia for a reported fee of €14.4 million from CSKA Moscow.
The deal was announced on Saturday. “PFC CSKA thanks Seydou for his contribution in the successes of the team in the past years and wishes all the best in his future career!” the Russian club said in a statement on their website.
Currently away with The Elephants at the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea, the 27-year-old will sign a four-and-a-half year deal until June 2019 and the Serie A contenders could pay an extra fee £1.1 million.
While he is an extra ingredient to the fire power of coach Rudi Garcia’s side, Doumbia joins compatriot Gervinho Kouassi at the Rossoneri.
Further, his recruitment comes at a time when Roma offloaded Mattio Destro to rivals AC Milan.
Doumbia joined CSKA from Swiss side Young Boys in 2010 and scored 61 goals in 95 appearances, won two Russian Premier League titles and two Russian Cups.
