Ghana international defender Jonathan Mensah has completed a move to Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala from Evian Thonon Gaillard.

Mensah, 25, signed a two-and-half year deal to end his five-year stay with French outfit Evian following a medical on Tuesday.

The fee is reported to be in the region of €150.000 for the stopper whose contract was due to expire this summer.

The 25-year-old was linked with a English Premier League side Swansea City a few days ago.

Mensah joins Anzhi who are battling relegation in the Russian Premier League at their Spain training camp.

The imposing defender started his career in Ghana with Ashgold before a move to Free State Stars in South Africa.

Mensah was then signed by Udinese before two loans spells at Granada until his transfer to Evian five seasons ago.

He was banned from all footballing activities for four months in May last season for irregularities concerning his transfer from Udinese to Evian.

He has represented the Ghana national team at two FIFA World Cups in 2010 and 2014.
