Forwards Wilfried Bony, Salomon Kalou and Thomas Toure have all been ruled out injured for Ivory Coast’s FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Liberia on 13 and 17 November

Ivory Coast face Liberia in a two-legged second round play-off, starting on Friday, and will face a problem which they have not faced in a while.

Three strikers, namely, Wilfried Bony, Salomon Kalou and Thomas Toure, who were called up to the squad, have picked up injuries with their respective clubs and will be unfit for both legs against Liberia.

As a result Les Elephants have called up Roger Assale as backup. Defender Arthur Boka also returns for the reigning African champions. Goalkeeper Ali Badra Sangare and midfielder Serge Yao N’Guessan, who both play in the Ivorian league, have also been called up.
