Wilfried Bony was again the hero as Swansea defeated Newcastle 2-1 at St James’ Park.

The Ivorian hitman fired home a penalty in the game’s dying seconds to guarantee the points returned to Wales, while also inflicting a cruel defeat on Alan Pardew’s Magpies.

The West African had struck 45 minutes earlier to cancel out Nigeria forward Shola Ameobi’s opener.

The defeat is Newcastle’s fifth in five games, and they will be happy to see the back of Bony who tormented their defence repeatedly. The striker’s first goal was a header from a Ben Davies corner, while his penalty came after an error from his compatriot Cheick Tiote.

Both Bony and Tiote, as well as Newcastle’s scorer Ameobi—not a regular goal-getter—will be anticipating a summer in Brazil with the Elephants and the Super Eagles respectively.
