Baggies to sell Berahino?
West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Irvine has hinted that star-striker Saido Berahino will be allowed to leave if a big club meets the Baggies’ valuation.
The current highest-scoring English player in the Premier League has been a stand-out performer for the Throstles so far this season, and was also impressive in his first EPL campaign last term. Irvine was keen to state he would “go with our blessing”, should he leave in January.
Although Berahino, 21, missed out on a senior England call-up for the upcoming European qualifiers, the Scot believes his main man upfront can attract the attention of Champions League clubs. “If Saido gets to the stage where there’s a load of big clubs chasing after him then he’ll have done a brilliant job for us in the meantime.” Irvine told The Mirror.
“Then it becomes a matter of whether the club want to do business with anyone or not. There’s no set rule as far as that’s concerned.
“I certainly wouldn’t want Saido not to play well because I didn’t want him going anywhere else.
“And if in the end he goes somewhere else – and it’s a move that is seen as taking his career to the next level – then that’d be fantastic and he’d go with our blessing.”
It is still unclear who the main suitors for the 21-year-old would be, although former Baggies player Peter Odemwingie has previously told the player to leave The Hawthorns.
