Aubameyang tips Dortmund for title
Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang believes Borussia Dortmund will win the Bundesliga this season, following their horror campaign in 2014/15.
The 26-year-old forward is Dortmund’s top scorer and joint top with Thomas Muller of Bayer Munich in the Bundesliga, as his side have rallied again following last season’s seventh-placed finish, to sit top of the table.
Thomas Tuchel tooks the reins from Jurgen Klopp over the summer and has once again made them a championship-contending side.
Following Dortmund’s 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen this weekeng, Aubameyang believes his side will go on to pip current champions Bayern Munich, to the title.
“We have started the season well, although everybody knows that Bayern are favourites, as I said, and I am probably the only one thinking this and others don’t,” Aubameyang told goal.com.
“I don’t think that Bayern will win the league this season. At least, this is what I think.”
Aubameyang scored the third goal in the weekend’s victory, which took him to six league goals for the season.
However, the Gabonese forward will not be featuring in the Champions League this season, with Dortmund failing to qualify for the tournament last campaign.
“I want to score 20 goals in the Bundesliga this season,” Aubameyang admitted.
“That’s a target I want to achieve. I have a bet with the coach so I will give it my all in order to achieve this goal because I want to improve.”
Dortmund top the league on goal difference, as Bayern also have 15 points, going into game day six.
