Asamoah’s goal brings Juventus back on track
Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah scored his first goal of the season to help a rampant Juventus side return to winning ways in Serie A.
The Old Lady were aiming to extend their lead at the top of the table after last week’s draw against Hellas Verona.
The 25-year-old Ghanaian, who has been in great form operating from the left-wing-back position, opened his account for the season. Asamoah’s sublime curling shot from range was followed by strikes by Claudio Marchisio and Fernando Llorente; the combination was enough to see off any threat from Chievo Verona on Sunday.
Juventus coach Antonio Conte was full of praise for his players after his side maintained their 100 per cent home league record: “It’s not that I was expecting any particular responses today, the players all did well,” Conte told Juventus.com.
“If we’re going to develop, it’s right that I didn’t allow the type of hesitation witnessed in Verona to go unnoticed.”
He added: “I pointed out that we can’t allow ourselves to drop certain points, especially if we want to write history. It’s tough to be aggressive for the entire 95 minutes.”
Asamoah will be hoping to add to his tally when the Bianconeri entertain Trabzonspor in the Europa League on Thursday.
