Asamoah in Serie A team of the year
Ghana and Juventus star Kwadwo Asamoah was voted the best left-back in the Italian Serie A at the Gran Gala del Calcio awards on Monday.
The votes for the best players of 2014 were provided by the AIC – the Italian Players’ Association.
In addition to Asamoah picking up the best left-back award, champions Juventus were voted Team of the Year, while Gigi Buffon, Andrea Barzagli, Paul Pogba, Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal and Carlos Tevez were also voted in the Best XI.
Picking up the award on crutches after a recent successful knee surgery, the Ghana international said: “I want to thank all my team-mates and the coach who converted me into that role. He constantly used me effectively in that position till I became perfect.”
Asamoah’s former coach Antonio Conte received the award as Coach of the Year.
