Ambrose dropped by Nigeria
Celtic defender Efe Ambrose has been left out of Nigeria’s latest squad for this month friendlies against South Africa and Uganda.
Stand-in coach Daniel Amokachi announced a 27-man squad for the upcoming friendlies but found no place for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner.
Ambrose has regained his starting berth at Celtic in the last few weeks and helped the Scottish champions book a place in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup on Wednesday.
Ambrose’s omission paves the way for the inclusion of Aalesund defender Akeem Latifu who makes the Super Eagles squad for the first time.
The squad includes in-form West Brom striker Brown Ideye and Anthony Ujah who had both been overlooked in recent call-ups by Stephen Keshi.
Meanwhile Stoke City winger Victor Moses has been placed on standby for the Super Eagles.
