It has been revealed that Africa Football Shop’s Championship correspondent Hope Akpan has dislocated his shoulder.

The Reading FC midfielder, making only his second appearance for Nigeria, was injured in the Super Eagles’ Cup of Nations qualifying match against the Republic of Congo.

Stephen Keshi’s side picked up a valuable 2-0 triumph following goals from Ikechukwu Uche and Aaron Samuel.

However, this silver lining has a cloud, as 23-year-old midfielder Akpan was replaced in the second half through injury.

The midfielder, writing on Twitter, has revealed that he has suffered a dislocated shoulder: “Thank you for all the get well soon messages. Dislocated my shoulder in yesterday’s game V Congo. Thank God it wasn’t anything worse.”

In Akpan’s absence, Eskisehirspor midfielder Raheem Lawal may return to the starting XI.
