Premier League side Sunderland have reportedly made a move to sign Stoke City forward Peter Odemwingie on loan.

Odemwingie now 34 has hardly played for two years after suffering a knee ligament injury in August 2014.

But he signed a new deal with the Potters last summer and now fully fit.

The Guardian reports that Sunderland have made an inquiry about taking Odemwingie on loan until the end of the season.

Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce will have several irons in the fire as he tries to find players who can come in and help the fight against relegation.

Sunderland recently sealed the loan signing of Senegal forward Dame N’Doye from Trabzonspor and boss Allardyce sees Odemwingie as a possible partner for the target.
