AFSTZ: Porto take the lead in Imbula race
FC Porto have taken the lead in the race to sign Marseille midfielder Giannelli Imbula, with a €23 million bid.
The France Under-21, who qualifies for Congo through his parents, has been subject of an ongoing transfer saga, with Inter Milan coming close to signing the 22-year-old.
Imbula was left unconvinced by the amount of playing time he would get at the San Siro with Inter Milan, while Porto came in with a better personal offer.
Inter offered Marseille a €1 million loan with an option to buy for €19 million, but the player has personally rejected a move.
Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton are also understood to have tabled offers, but none of which Marseille have chosen to accept.
