AFSTZ: Mikel wanted by Turkish giants
Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel is wanted by Turkish side Besiktas after a deal for Lucas Leiva fell through.
Mikel is in the sights of the Turkish Super Lig side, as Chelsea look set to make a bid for Juventus’ Paul Pogba.
The 28-year-old has spent nine years at Stamford Bridge, but has become a fringe player with the Blues, with both Ramires and Nemanja Matic both higher up the pecking order.
Pogba’s arrival would only mean Mikel received less game time with the current Premier League champions, meaning Besiktas could make a successful bid for the player.
Besiktas are suffering with injuries at the moment, and Mikel’s experience would be valuable to the Turkish side.
Mikel had been linked with a shock move to Real Madrid earlier in the year, but that move never surfaced.
