AFSTZ: Ayew on Everton radar
Everton are keen to recruit Lorient striker Jordan Ayew this summer with boss Roberto Martinez impressed by the Ghanaian’s form shown last season.
L’Equipe reported yesterday that the 23-year-old has emerged as a target for the Toffees after shining for Lorient in his debut campaign.
The Ghanaian hotshot joined Les Murlus from Marseille for €4 million last summer and proved an instant success on the pitch as the player helped to steer Lorient away from relegation to Ligue 2.
Ayew’s pace brutally unlocked defences and the player had the end product to match by scoring 12 goals in 31 appearances.
The Ghana international’s performances have seen the player’s price tag increase threefold and the French outfit may be willing to cash in on their star man for €12 million.
Ayew is the son of the former Ghana captain Abedi Pele and the younger brother of Swansea’s new signing, Andre Ayew.
Lorient’s Ayew could be ready to join his brother in England with the French newspaper reporting that Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are also closely monitoring the player.
