The AFS Team of the Week returns with another edition dominated by African players drawn from seven different leagues.

The Africa Football Shop team had a tough task this week selecting our front-men as it proved a fruitful weekend for African goalscorers.

The ever present Carlos Kameni returns in the AFS TOTW goal this week after another clean-sheet in Malaga’s 2-0 win against Cordoba. The win sees Malaga maintain 7th position in La Liga

We opted for a back four this week and welcome a few debutants to the AFS TOTW. Ivorian youngster Eric Bailly makes his first appearance in the team of the week after staring in Villareal’s goalless draw at Almeria. Joel Matip retains his place this week after another impressive outing coupled with rescuing a point for Schalke in the 90th minute. Bordeaux star Ludovic Sané debuts after captaining and scoring as they defeated reigning champions PSG on Sunday. Ghana’s Jeffrey Schlupp was a constant threat as his Leicster City side battled for a draw against relegation rivals Hull City.

Albert Adomah takes his place in the AFS TOTW after a fantastic performance for promotion chasing Middlesborough in which he scored and assisted as they defeated Ipswich to sit at the top of the table. Ivorian Max Gradel was again on the score-sheet for St. Etienne as they beat Metz in Ligue 1. Saido Mane played a key role winning the penalty which secured a draw against table toppers Chelsea. Idrissa Gueye makes his AFS TOTW debut for an outstanding midfield performance in Lille’s demolition of Rennes.

The AFS TOTW front-line is drawn from two leagues outside of the top five leagues in Europe. Demba Ba has been consistently scoring in the Turkish Super Lig and found the net again on Sunday as Besiktas rose to the top of the league. New to the AFS TOTW is Egyptian forward Ahmed Hassan Kouka. The young forward notched his 12th league goal of the season and started the week celebrating a call-up to the Egyptian senior squad.
