AFS Team Of The Week 16.04.14
Africa Football Shop’s Team of the Week returns as Editor Ed Dove picks his XI of best African performers of the weekend.

This edition of the AFS TOTW features players from seven different leagues in six different countries. Nations are also represented, with two Nigerians, two Senegalese, two Congolese, two Ghanaians, one Algerian, one South African, and one Cameroonian player all featured.
Vincent Enyeama retains his spot in our Team of the Week and appears all-but indispensable at the moment. This week, the Super Eagles stopper claimed his 20th clean sheet of the season—a truly fantastic record. However, are his repeat inclusions in our elect purely down to his performances, or do they demonstrate a lack of depth in the position across Africa?
Following Granada’s terrific 1-0 victory over an (admittedly) lacklustre Barcelona, two of their players have been included.
Algerian playmaker Yacine Brahimi was the goal-scorer and rightly deserved the plaudits that came his way. While Sofiane Feghouli is at the centre of most of Algeria’s creative work, Brahimi is a more-than-decent wingman for the Valencia man. Could the pair of them see the Desert Lions out of World Cup Group H?
Granada centre-back Tiago Ilori also makes the grade, having delivered a resolute performance in keeping Barca at bay. The defender, who is on loan in Spain from Liverpool, is eligible to represent Portugal, England or Nigeria at international level.
Despite the criticism that has come his way, from Didier Drogba no less, Jordan Ayew delivered another superb showing this week.
Herve Renard’s men continued their unlikely battle against relegation with a 2-0 victory over Toulouse, with the younger Ayew brother once more the star attraction.
Jordan scored one and set-up another as the Montbeliard-based club secured a vital three points.
