Ighalo happy with pre-season goal

Odion Jude Ighalo was delighted to find the net as Watford wrapped up their pre-season schedule with a 2-2 draw at home to French ligue 1 outfit FC Lorient.

Troy Deeney opened the scoring with a penalty, before Odion Ighalo doubled the lead with a neat lob, but Zargo Toure and Romain Philippoteaux goals saw the visitors return to Brittany with a share of the spoils.

Ighalo produced a goal of immense quality, Surging through onto a Capoue pass, he lifted the ball up and over Lecomte, who was helpless to defend against the Nigerian’s superb finish.

“I’m happy to score, butmost importantly it’s about the team performance. We have new players and we are still trying to understand what the manager wants. We’ve put in enough work over pre-season, with new tactics. We can’t wait for the season to get started now so we can get moving.”
