Charlton Athletic striker Igor Vetokele faces a late race to be fit for Saturday’s trip to Rotherham in the Championship.

The 22-year-old Angola international has been in fine early season form, contributing five of the Addicks’ 11 league goals so far this term. However, an arm injury sustained in Tuesday’s draw at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers during a clash with goalkeeper¬†Carl Ikeme could rule him out of Saturday’s tie.

“Hopefully Vetokele and Gudmundsson can recover for Saturday and we can go to Rotherham with a full team,” Charlton boss Bob Peeters confirmed to Sky Sports after last night’s draw.

Vetokele was named August’s Sky Bet Championship Player of the month following his goalscoring exploits. And Peeters will hope his top scorer can return against a side that has scored the same number of league goals this season as his young African.

The promising forward was signed this summer from Danish side FC Copenhagen for an undisclosed fee.
