Bakary Sako was the hero as Wolves picked up a valuable away win against fellow Championship side Fulham.

Wolves continued their encouraging start to the new season with a 1-0 away win at Craven Cottage.

The two clubs are continuing the trends they experienced last season. Wolves, who won the third tier, are up in ninth after two wins from three, while Fulham, who were relegated from the Premier League, are in 23rd position, having failed to pick up a single point from their opening three games.

Mali international Bakary Sako was their nemesis on Wednesday night, scoring the only goal of the game.

The former France U-21 star found the net in the first half, firing low into the net after the Cottagers failed to deal with a Wolves set piece.

Sako did, however, miss a penalty later in the match after fellow Malian Nouha Dicko was brought down in the box.

Nigerian goalkeeper Carl Ikeme was also on hand to help Wolves to victory, making a crucial save from Moussa Dembele after the break.
