ROUND-UP: Africans in La Liga – Week 21
Moroccan international Youssef El-Arabi was the only African to be directly involved in a goal in the Spanish La Liga during the weekend round of matches.

The 28-year old struck his fifth goal of the campaign from close range after initial strike from Rochina was parried to help Granada overcome Getafe 3-2 at home.
Nigeria’s Isaac Success starred directly behind Arabi on the left flank for Granada but Congolese forward Thievy Bifouma had no game time.
In the same game, Mehdi Lacen lasted the full duration, hitting the woodwork and also picking a 90th minute booking for Getafe. However Ghanaian midfielder Bernard Mensah watched his teammates suffer defeat from the stands.
Algerian Rachid Aït-Atmane and Cameroonian Daniel N’di contributed to Sporting Gijon’s 5-1 comprehensive pummeling of Real Sociedad at the Estadio Municipal.
Veteran goalkeeper Carlos Kameni conceded his first goal in over 260 minutes against a Lionel Messi inspired Barcelona to a hard fought 2-1 victory at Malaga. Arthur Boka was not part of Malaga match squad due to suspension.
Manucho Gonçalves and Pape Diop were benched by Rayo Vallecano and Celta Vigo respectively in a game that the former came out tops 3-0. Atletico Madrid relinquished the summit to Barcelona following a scoreless draw with Sevilla. Diego Simeone did not involve Ghanaian prodigy Thomas Partey.
Fayçal Fajr played full throttle in Deportivo La Coruna’s 1-1 draw against Valencia who had Ayem Abdennour in their starting line but no place for the injured Sofiane Feghouli. Senegalese Alfred N’diaye was in determined form as Real Betis held Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw at Estadio Benito Villamarín.
The last game of match day 21 featured two Africans with Zouhair Feddal emerging winner with Levante over Mubarak Wakaso‘s Las Palmas. Both players lasted the entire duration of the game. Simão Junior, Nabil Ghilas and El Zhar monitored proceedings on the bench.
