LOC formed for 2016 CAF Beach Soccer Championship

The Nigeria Football Federation on Friday constituted the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 2016 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations.

Last February, Nigeria was handed the rights to host the Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations by the Confederation of African Football.

The NFF announced that the LOC chairman for the 2016 Caf Beach Soccer Championship is Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, first vice president of the NFF while NFF board member and House of Representatives member Honorable Suleiman Yahaya is the vice chairman.

Chief Felix Anyansi, NFF board member and chairman of the Benue State Football Association Margaret Icheen were listed as members.

Other members of the LOC are Adeyinka Adeboye, Bolaji Yusuf, Nansel Nimyel, Sonny Monidafe, Athanasius Okon and an former youth international Salisu Nakande.

Also member is Samson Adamu, chief organizer of the annual COPA Lagos Invitational Beach Soccer Tournament, who doubles as th director of organization while NFF’s acting director of competitions, Bola Oyeyode, will serve as secretary.

On board is the former NFF President Anthony Kojo Williams to serve as Adviser to the LOC.

The LOC headed by Barrister Akinwunmi will be inaugurated by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung in Kaduna on Thursday March 24, 2016.

The competition billed to be hosted in Lagos in December will serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2017 Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup to be staged in The Bahamas.
