Defender Joseph Ochaya will hope his Kampala City Council make it to first round of the 2015 CAF Champions League so that he can play in the tournament’s group stages.

The left-back will miss KCC’s return leg of their preliminary round fixture against Cameroon’s Cosmos de Bafia in Duala at the weekend.

The Uganda Premier League champions, who won the first leg 1-0 courtesy of a late Herman Wasswa finish, departed Kampala for West Africa via Rwanda without Ochaya on Tuesday.

Ochaya remained home alongside new signings Savio Kabugo and Francis Olaki who are nursing injuries. Centre-back Ronnie Kisekka and Hakim Senkumba made the cut after recovering from illnesses.

The 20-year-old missed the first leg after he had failed to earn a transfer clearance from FIFA to leave parent club Ghana’s Asante Kotoko.

It means KCC tactician Abdallah Mubiru will now look the options of Simon Namwanja and Habibu Kavuma for the left-back position at the weekend.

The winner between KCC and de Bafia will face Tunisian side Esperance.
