Zambia coach Honour Janza is expecting great things from South Africa during the upcoming Cup of Nations.

Janza’s Chipolopolo were beaten 1-0 by Bafana Bafana in a pre-AFCON friendly yesterday. A tight and disjointed encounter was won by a late Thuso Phala goal following fine work from Bernard Parker.

Speaking after the match, as reported by football411, Janza acknowledged that South Africa could go far at the imminent tournament in Equatorial Guinea.

“You see what is important is not where you standing but where you are going,” the coach began.

“If they can maintain and sustain the momentum they have, I think South Africa can go far. We have seen what they have and Zambia has tested the deep waters and if they can maintain and sustain and believe what they are doing I think they can go far.”

The manager also had some comments to make about his own side’s potential progress at the continental showpiece: “As for Zambia, it won’t be any surprise if they go far.

“We have the ability to go far and no-one should congratulate me if we go into the finals because that’s where we belong, and if we don’t go far that will be unfortunate.

“The South African region’s football fans should be comfortable that we will perform well and represent you very well.”
