Iheanacho stars as Manchester City run riot
Nigeria youngster Kelechi Iheanacho was the star of the show as Manchester City cruised past Crystal Palace with a 5-1 win in the League Cup.
Palace knew about the Nigerian forward, having seen him score a stoppage time winner at Selhurst Park for City last month, in the league.
The 19-year-old continued to be a thorn in their side, as he inspired Manuel Pellegrini’s team to a comfortable fourth round victory at the Etihad. Two assists and a goal capped a great full debut for the young forward.
As reported by The Telegraph, City boss Manuel Pellegrini heaped praise on the forward, saying: “Kelechi made a very good performance, he is a very good player, but he is not just a striker.
“He made two assists for two goals. He must continue working, but we are very happy with him because I see how he works every day and his personality.”
Ivorian duo Wilfried Bony and Yaya Toure were also on the score sheet for Manchester City as the Citizens prepare to face Hull City at the Etihad Stadium in the quarter-finals.
