DONE DEAL: Ibe moves to Derby
Nigerian winger Jordon Ibe has completed his season-long loan to Championship side Derby County.
According to BBC Radio Derby, the Rams have completed a temporary deal for Liverpool’s Nigerian forward Jordon Ibe.
The winger follows in the footsteps of Andre Wisdom, who spent last year on loan at Derby and helped the club into the Championship play-offs.
Former England manager, and current Rams boss Steve McClaren has praised Ibe upon his arrival at the club, “He is a direct player with plenty of ability and he will certainly strengthen the attacking options.”
The 18-year-old knows the Championship, having spent last season on loan at Birmingham, where he scored once in eleven games for Lee Clark’s struggling side.
He arrived at Liverpool from Wycombe Wanderers in January 2012 but has struggled to assert himself in the first team, making only three appearances in the last two-and-a-half years.
The England U-19 international had previously been linked with a move to Bolton Wanderers.
McClaren continued, “We’re delighted that Liverpool have again chosen to loan us one of their promising young players.
“Jordon is someone who we’ve been aware of for quite a while and have been impressed whenever we’ve seen him in action.
“He has a lot of potential and we believe that we can help his career development.”
