DONE DEAL: ElNeny joins Arsenal
English Premier League gians Arsenal have completed the £5 million signing of Egypt midfielder Mohammed Elneny from Swiss side Basel.
The Egyptian completed his medical last week and was awaiting international clearance before joining up with his new team-mates at the Gunners’ London Colney HQ earlier today.
The Gunners signed the Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel and Wenger is looking forward to working with the midfielder.
“He is 23 years old and has already got Champions League, Europa League and Swiss League experience. He is a player who is adaptable in midfield.” Wenger told the Arsenal website.
“He can be box to box and be a holding midfielder so that is for us very promising. We wanted a versatile player and I wanted a player who can play defensive but can as well play to box to box.” the Gunners boss added.
ElNeny told the media he wants to win trophies “I am hoping that we win the Premier League and cup this season, and the Champions League,” said the midfielder.
The 23-year-old made nearly 100 appearances for Basle while winning three consecutive Swiss Super League titles.
His performances in Europe have been particularly impressive in that time, starring in victories against Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham.
