Nathan Delfouneso’s second-half goal offered little succour to Blackpool fans as their side were demolished 6-1 at home by Bournemouth.

Bournemouth retained their unlikely spot at the summit of the Championship with a convincing 6-1 hammering of bottom club Blackpool.

Having shipped six at home, the Seasiders now have the joint-worst defensive record in the division. The loss will have come as a blow as the North-West club headed into this one on a run of four without defeat.

They went into the break 2-0 down after goals from Matt Ritchie and Callum Wilson. Things fell apart after the pause, however, as the Cherries struck four times, with only Delfouneso’s 65th-minute goal breaking the onslaught.

The Nigerian forward has now scored three times in 20 Championship appearances so far this season.
