Bony in search of Aguero partnership
Manchester City new boy Wilfried Bony is hoping to create a partnership with City top scorer Sergio Aguero next season.
It has been a tough start to life at the Etihad for Ivory Coast international Bony, who arrived for £25 million in January from Swansea City. But he believes the new campaign will see him and the Argentina international become a top strike force.
“You can see when we play together that there is something there. You can see we are both different, too. I couldn’t say I’m quicker than him but he’s not stronger than me. But we can work together and complement each other.” Bony told The Guardian.
“Together I think we can be quite scary. That’s why I want to prepare myself for the next season and make sure I am ready for that.”
The 26-year-old is aware that he must improve, but has identified his success with Les Elephants at AFCON 2015, plus injuries as setbacks in his progression with the Citizens.
“All I can do now is work, try and help my team. But I like it here, this club is always fighting, the pressure is everywhere. I am not afraid about that.”
The striker heads back to Swansea on Sunday in a lunchtime kick-off, in which he hopes to double his City tally for the season.
“It’s a good game for us at Swansea – and an important one. If we want to keep that second position we have to win there.” Bony added.
“Of course I would love to score back at Swansea.”
