Aubameyang would only leave Dortmund for Real Madrid
Reigning CAF African footballer of the year Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says his ‘main aim’ is to play for Real Madrid, dealing a huge blow to Manchester City.
The Citizens are reported to be keen on acquiring the services of the lethal Gabon international.
Manager Pep Guardiola is seeking a new striker ahead of the new season, with Dortmund valuing Aubameyang at over £54million.
But the striker himself has claimed the only club he would consider leaving Dortmund for would be Real Madrid.
“My grandfather, the dad of my mum, always wished that I would play in Spain. Two years ago, when he died, I promised him that someday I will play for Real – and I work hard to reach that goal,” he told ZDF
“Real Madrid is my main goal, but at the moment I like it in Dortmund. If there is a chance to go to Madrid, I will say immediately yes – but at the moment there is no contact.
“But the only club I would leave Dortmund for are Real Madrid. If they don’t come calling, I don’t leave.”
He scored as many as 39 goals to help Dortmund finish second in the title race last term.
