Ghana international Matthew Amoah has said he is not interested in making a quick return to the Black Stars, despite his exploits at club level.

The Heracles Almelo striker has made two World Cup appearances with Ghana but has not played any meaningful role at international level since South Africa 2010.

Amoah told Accra-based Power FM on Monday that he wants to invest more of his energy and time in saving his Dutch Eredivisie side from relegation.

“I’m not thinking about the Black Stars because it has been a long time,” the 33-year-old opined. “Since South Africa I have not been playing [for Ghana].”

“I’m not thinking about Ghana and what I’m thinking about is how to help Heracles survive relegation. Right now I’m not focusing on the Black Stars.”

However, Amoah was quick to add that he has not retired from international football yet, and only wants to be in the right shape before considering “a future” comeback.

The former NAC Breda striker has endured two hamstring injuries this season and does not want to compound his situation. He was, however, bullish that “Ghana will escape the first round and hope that this time we can do a lot more better” as the four-time African champions square off with US, Germany and Portugal at the group stages of Brazil 2014.
