Ahmed Musa

AFS20: Ahmed Musa, Nigeria & CSKA Moscow

Published On 16/08/2014 | By AFS Staff | Africa, International, Nigeria, World Cup 2014

One gets the impression Ahmed Musa is bubbling up to be a truly terrific talent. The young forward is only 21, but already has a remarkable 40 caps to his name.

He is also an African champion, but while he contributed sporadically at the 2013 Cup of Nations, he didn’t make an impact as big as he managed in Brazil.

Against Argentina, at the World Cup, Super Eagles fans witnessed the crystallisation of Musa’s talents.

Anything Lionel Messi could do (it seemed), Musa could do better. Twice the Barcelona man found the net, and twice Musa responded—the first being a goal of utter class.

It was the first time a Nigerian player had ever before scored two goals in a World Cup match.

He also won the Russian championship (for a second time) and will relish a return to the Champions League this campaign.

Destined for the top!
