AFS Team of the Week – Salah, Nounkeu & Moses star

Africa Football Shop brings you the AFS Team of the Week consisting of Africans plying their trade in major leagues in different corners of the world.

African players got their scoring boots on over the weekend and in midweek fixtures as leagues enters its final run in. Notable mentions for Senegalese attackers in the Premier League.

Veteran Cameroon goalie Carlos Kameni retains his place for the second week after manning the posts in Malaga’s exciting 3-2 at home to Getafe.

Westerlo’s Ghanaian right back Mitch Apau makes the three man defence after playing full throttle in Westerlo’s 3-0 demolition of Oostende on Saturday. Cameroon’s Dany Nounkou makes his debut in the AFS TOTW after two sterling performances securing maximum points for Evian in Ligue 1. Boukary Drame of Atalanta completes this weeks back three. His stand-out performance wasn’t enough get all three points against Sampdoria but makes the AFS TOTW for the first team.

AFS TOTW  27th February - 4th March 2015-update

Mohamed Salah turned in a match winning performance for Fiorentina as he grabbed the only goal of the game against Inter Milan. Seydou Keita played full throttle in the biggest game in Italy against champions Juventus rescuing a point for Roma in a match they needed to win. Victor Moses was instrumental in Stoke City’s successive victories opening the scoring against Everton on Wednesday night. N’golo Kante’s Caen caused an upset on Friday evening by beating Marseille at the Stade Velodrome. Kante was instrumental in securing all three points.

Saido Mane was reinstated to Southampton’s starting XI and it proved to be the right decision as he grabbed a late winner for the Saints against Crystal Palace. Fellow Senegalese Dame N’Doye continued his goalscoring exploits for Hull City by scoring in the 1-1 draw against relegation rivals Sunderland. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang was on the score-sheet again as Dortmund continued their climb away from the Bundesliga relegation zone. The Gabon forward scored the first goal at the Signal Iduna Park against Schalke as Dortmund emerged winners of the local Derby.
