AFS Team of the Week – Salah, Gradel & Kameni star

Africa Football Shop picks out the AFS Team of the Week consisting of Africans plying their trade in major leagues in different corners of the world.

There were some star performances by Africans across Europe’s top five leagues. The African contingent at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English Championship deserves a mention.

Whilst Youngster Dominic Lorfa makes the AFS Team of the Week for the first time, an honorary mention must go to Benik Afobe and the Malian duo of Nouha Dicko and Bakary Sako who were all on the scoresheet.

Gabon captain Pierre Emerick Aubameyang scored on Friday night as Borussia Dortmund edged a thriller against relegation rivals Stuttgart.

Ghana’s Baba Rahman was a star performer as Augsburg salvaged a draw at Leverkusen through a goal by their goalkeeper in stoppage time.

In the English Premier League, West Ham’s Senegalese duo of Diafra Sakho and Cheikou Kouyate both found the net and were instrumental in securing a draw at Tottenham. Meanwhile Hull City new boy Dame N’Doye continued his goal scoring exploits by grabbing the winner against QPR.

Staying in England, Leeds United secured all three points against high-flyers Middlesborough and Ivorian Sol Bamba was a pillar at the back for the Elland Road outfit.

John Boye completes the AFS Team of the Week back-line and it was a fantastic outing for the Ghanaian defender in the Turkish Super Lig. He scored what is a goal of the month contender in Erciyesspor’s demolition of Konyaspor.

African champion Max Gradel was in great form as St. Etienne held Marseille at home. He scored a penalty, completed three dribbles, two key passes and took five shots in the process. In Serie A, Mohamed Salah was again on target as Fiorentina were held by Torino.

Former Cameroon goalkeeper Carlos Kameni was a star performer in La Liga as he defied giants Barcelona at the Camp Nou. He made a string of breathtaking saves to keep Barcelona’s star-studded attack at bay to secure all three points for Malaga.
