Adama Traore wins U-20 golden ball
Mali’s Adama Traore has won the FIFA U-20 golden ball for the best player of the just ended U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
The 19-year old’s impressive and inspiring displays in the tournament helped him to beat off strong competition from Brazil’s Danilo and Sergi Milinkovic of Serbia to become the second Malian after Seydou Keita who won the award in 1999 to annex the individual award.
In light of his displays at the youth tournament, French giants Lyon has expressed keen interest in Traore and it looks increasingly possible that they may acquire his signature from Lille.
The young Lille attacker played a huge role in Mali securing bronze medal. He was involved in eight goals out of the seven games he featured, scoring four brilliant goals and cleverly assisting four goals for his colleagues.
